Expanding, Revenging, and the Great Castaway!
Well I certainly can't let a WHOLE month go by without a post, so I best catch you all up before I run out of time! :-)
Expanding: Gabe got his expander (braces) on last Thursday. It was much more complex than any of us had expected!! But so far, he isn't doing too bad. The expander is mounted to four bands that go around his teeth (two near the front and the back two molars) only in the upper mouth. Each night we turn the key one "crank" to start widening out the upper pallet. We'll do this for three weeks then stop to measure how far it has widened. By the fall it will have made the gap between his two front teeth big enough that they will put on the remaining brackets to close the gap. It has been pretty uncomfortable for him, but Gabe is slowly adjusting the whole contraption.
Revenging: So Matt got home from Mexico just fine last night. The youth had an AMAZING trip. This morning he woke up to get ready for church and couldn't move. Hours later he still has a small fever, the chills, severe abdominal cramping and sorry...the runs. Poor guy. It's textbook Montezuma's revenge. So he's been taking tylenol and an antibiotic he never used last year from when he went to Tanzania that is specifically for traveler's diarrhea. Needless to say we haven't seen too much of Daddy yet. Hopefully this will run it's case soon so Matt can get back to normal. Please pray!
Great Castaway: We finally took a trip to the infamous Castaway Cafe tonight. Gabe and Zoe LOVED it. I would say that you get your money's worth for the entrance fee. The play structure itself is pretty great. However, BEWARE THE FOOD. WAY WAY WAY overpriced and TERRIBLE. I was pretty bummed. And they don't even have free refills on the pop...what's up with that? So my personal recommendation would be eat meals and snacks all before hand and just come to play. I don't know what the website was blowing smoke about having workers there who are overseeing the play structure and watching your kids. That's totally not the case as far as I could see. But, on a good note, your kids cannot leave the area without you...it's impossible. And there's plenty of room for the parents to sit and watch. Any of the rest of you who have tried it out I would love your thoughts on the place...
Besides Matt's ailment, we are all well! I have already told most all of you who read this this story, but for those who may not have heard, Zoe had the greatest quote this week. Upon looking at her princess sippy cup, she exclaims,
"Mommy...snow white is wearing yellow shoes!"
"Yes, she is...is that ok?"
"No, Mommy...those are Belle's shoes. She took them from Belle and Belle is going to be SO upset!"
Ah the dramatic life of a three year old!! :-)

I love Zoe! Her and Evy better have a talk. Evy will tell her that Snow White does indeed wear yellow shoes.(Much to Mommy's dismay last Haloween when Evy was Snow White and no yellow shoes were to be found!)
OH, and a tip for matt: I have a friend who takes Pepto at breakfast every day she is over seas and she's never gotten the dreaded Montazuma. Hope he feels better!
SO SWEET.... how precious...
what ever would bell do, if in fact her shoes were ever stolen??? perhaps SHE should talk with Cinderella about it.
you know... just in case.
poor matt...
we haven't been to that place yet. (what is the official name??) we may have to try to stuff it in our summer...
Misty the official name is Castaway Cafe. The website is www.castawayplay.com. But they just changed it and there is not as much info. on there as the old site. It's $6 for 3 yrs. and older.
She's hilarious and I am glad for the update! That place sounds like fun...probably isn't one over this way...ah well. Maybe the next time we are in town!
